Carbide, Ceramic, PVD, CVD Cutting Inserts

Carbide ceramics for precision machining and machining of hard-to-cut materials. These material grades use tungsten carbide (WC) micro-grains, the hard layer of which is granulated to a substrate micro size of 1µm. This substrate is coated by the PVD method with TiN, TiCN, and/or TiAlN. resulting in materials that are suitable for precision machining and machining of difficult-to-cut materials. Tougher, harder, and with precision sharp cutting edges with excellent wear and thermal crack resistance. NTK carbide grade series shows very stable performance under a wide range of conditions.

NTK takes pride in its carbide grade series because of its outstanding cutting performance. Due to the grinding of ultra-sharp cutting edges, better burr control, lower tool pressure, holding tighter tolerances, and reduced workpiece hardening are achieved.

- ST4 (for 304Stainless Steel)

New ST coating best for stainless steel on conventional or Swiss-type lathes. Excellent adhesion and wear resistance.

- DM4 (oxidation resistance f/high temp machining)

Best oxidation resistance for high-temperature machining on conventional or Swiss-type lathes. Ideal for Titanium alloys, Stainless steels, Alloy steels, Carbon steels, Heat resistant alloys.

- DT4 (heat resistant for swiss-type lathes)

Excellent oxidation resistance for Swiss-type lathes.  Ideal for Titanium alloys, Stainless steels, Alloy steels, Carbon steels, Heat resistant alloys.

- TM4 (next-generation triple titanium layer)

Excellent dimensional stability, balance, and tool life. Best for Carbon steels, Stainless steels, Alloy steels on Swiss-type lathes. Ideal for automotive parts.

ZM3 (bestselling for automatic lathes)

The firmly adhered coating stabilizes machining dimensions and avoids adhesion. Best for Carbon steels, Stainless steels, Alloy steels, Non-ferrous materials on Swiss-type lathes.

- QM3 (superb wear resistance f/interrupted cutting)

Toughness and wear resistance for a wide speed range and stable interrupted steel machining. Bost for Carbon steels, Stainless steels, Alloy steels, Heat resistant Alloys on conventional or Swiss-type lathes.

VM1 (f/small diameter parts)

Excellent edge sharpness designed for SUM materials (free-cutting steels) with high-precision and high-speed machining. Best for Carbon steels, Stainless steels, Alloy steels.

- KM1 (micro grained uncoated f/non-ferrous, aluminum, copper)

Very sharp, uncoated mirror-finished Micro-grain cutting edges with adhesion resistance. Best for Aluminum, Plastic, Non-ferrous materials.

- CP1 (CVD coated f/cast and ductile iron roughing)

High wear resistance laminated TiCN and Al2O3 layers. Great for cast or ductile iron cutting even within the high-speed range. Original rake design improves deposition resistance.
